Jorge Gustavo Mejía, the Executive Artistic Director of AFCH and Musical Director of the Honduran Philharmonic Orchestra, is a towering figure in the world of music. With a master’s degree in Composition and degrees in Musical Theory and Language, Musical Composition for Film and Media, and a Postgraduate Degree in Orchestral Conducting from esteemed German universities, his academic prowess underpins his international acclaim. Since returning to Honduras in 1996, Mejía has been a stalwart educator, dynamic cultural manager, and prolific music producer. Mejia has left an indelible mark on the world of music. As a conductor, he has directed orchestras across Latin America, the United States, Canada, and Germany. His legacy includes founding the non-profit “Coral Philharmonic of Honduras” in 2002, a milestone leading to his stewardship of the new NATIONAL PHILARMONIC ORCHESTRA OF HONDURAS in 2005, in collaboration with the Honduran government.
